Data & Methodology
Every insight needs evidence.
6K6 Radar uses public APIs, official RSS and reviewed metadata sources, retaining titles, links, attribution, observations and permitted first-sentence excerpts. Full articles are not collected.
How today’s three are selected
Candidates need a verifiable publication time within 48 hours and a recent fetch. One eligible Chinese signal is prioritized, followed by scores and category diversity. Publishers and events are not repeated; fewer than three is allowed.
Recency = round(30 × (1 − age/48h)). First-party sources receive 20 points, research metadata 15 and communities 8. Registered policy, technology or security keywords receive 15 topic points; ordinary titles 8 and truncated titles 0. Verified 1h momentum divided by 5 contributes up to 20; additional related publishers add 5 each, up to 10; Chinese candidates add 5. Maximum 100. Raw platform metrics are never summed.
Crossref provides publication dates only and is excluded from hourly scored picks. Routine USGS earthquakes below magnitude 5 stay in the feed. The threshold is not an impact assessment or warning. Title associations still need verification; multiple links do not establish independent confirmation.
Summaries and scan reports
Reviewed RSS sources may provide a first-sentence excerpt of up to 180 characters. Other items are labeled as title-based outlines, without claims from unread articles. Reports use real tasks and records, separating fetch, batch, analysis and publication times. Newly indexed content may be older; incomplete previous-day periods are not compared.
List position is not universal popularity
Ranked sources keep their own ordering; official and research publications are labeled as feeds. The overview interleaves source positions for coverage, without inventing a combined popularity score.
30 minutes, 1 hour and 24 hours
Change = source rank at the window baseline minus current rank. A nearby baseline, at least 3 real observations and recent data are required. Baseline tolerance is at most 25% of the window. The actual baseline time is disclosed. Insufficient history is labeled “Building history”.
What counts as momentum
Only ranked sources receive momentum scores: max(0, 1h rank gain) ÷ baseline rank × 100. A gain of at least 5 places is fast-rising. Sustained popularity requires a valid 24h baseline, at least 6 observations and every observed rank in the top 10. A new arrival must be absent from the valid list one hour earlier.
Conservative matches, original sources
We conservatively match sufficiently long titles within 48 hours. Conflicting numbers or negation prevent a match, and every pair must meet the threshold. These are candidate title connections, not proof of a shared event. Original items remain independent.
How the dispatch is made
At 07:00 Beijing time, rules select items from real snapshots in the preceding 24 hours, with citations and observation details. No observations means no invented edition. Previous-day comparisons require a previous dispatch. Revisions are archived; no AI API key is required.
Retention and copyright
High-frequency snapshots are kept for 14 days by default; daily aggregates and dispatches for 180 days. Source limits can shorten retention. Original links, authors and applicable licenses are retained. GOV.UK content includes Crown copyright under OGL v3.0. Stack Exchange licenses follow the original revision. Central bank material is available free on official sites. Third-party material, images and marks are excluded from automatic reuse.
